Job summary

Crossing Hurdles is seeking a mechanical CAD engineer to create and modify detailed parametric 3D models using FreeCAD or similar software. You will produce production-ready parts and assemblies and generate comprehensive drawings, including GD&T and tolerance stacks, for handoff to manufacturing.

You will design for sheet metal, CNC, plastics, and injection molding, perform CAD validation, and document assembly instructions for AI model training, incorporating reviewer feedback to refine models

Qualifications

• Have strong relevant experience designing mechanical components for manufacturing environments.
• Expertise in FreeCAD or similar parametric CAD software for advanced modeling, assemblies, and drawing generation.
• Hands-on exposure to sheet metal, CNC, plastics, and injection molding design considerations.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) best practices.
• Proven ability to produce production-grade CAD models and validate them against real-world manufacturability criteria.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify detailed parametric 3D CAD models of mechanical parts and assemblies using FreeCAD or comparable software.
• Develop comprehensive engineering drawings, including GD&T and tolerance stack-ups, suitable for manufacturing handoff.
• Design for a variety of manufacturing processes, such as sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, plastics, and injection molding.
• Perform CAD validation and quality assurance reviews to ensure model accuracy and readiness for production use.
• Prepare clear, concise technical documentation and assembly instructions as reference materials for AI model training.
• Incorporate feedback from technical reviewers to revise and improve CAD models and supporting documents.
