Job summary

Crossing Hurdles is seeking a mechanical CAD designer in the United States to create parametric 3D models and detailed drawings using FreeCAD. You will collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure parts are producible and documented for handoff.

The role focuses on sheet metal, CNC, plastics, and injection molding design, incorporating GD&T and tolerance analyses. You will validate CAD models and produce assembly instructions and reference materials for AI model training.

Qualifications

• Experience designing mechanical components for manufacturing environments.
• Expertise in FreeCAD or similar parametric CAD software for advanced modeling, assemblies, and drawings.
• Hands-on exposure to sheet metal, CNC machining, plastics, and injection molding.
• Strong GD&T, tolerance analysis, and DFM best practices.
• Proven ability to produce production-grade CAD models and validate manufacturability.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify parametric 3D CAD models with FreeCAD or similar tools.
• Develop engineering drawings with GD&T and tolerance stacks for manufacturing handoff.
• Design for sheet metal, CNC, plastics, and injection molding processes.
• Perform CAD validation and QA reviews to ensure production readiness.
• Prepare concise documentation and assembly instructions for AI model training.
• Incorporate reviewer feedback to revise CAD models and docs.
