Job summary

Calvert County Government is seeking a Paramedic to provide emergency medical care and hospital transport for 911 calls. Maryland licensure plus Paramedic, ACLS, CPR and EVOC are required, with responsibilities including equipment orders, vehicle inspections and EMS protocol adherence.

The role involves responding to 911 events, delivering ALS when needed, documenting care, and coordinating with hospital staff and supervisors in the Department of Public Safety's Career EMS program.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• One year as an active EMS Clinician, EMT, Cardiac Rescue Technician, Paramedic or Medic Corp in the US Military.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Emergency Vehicle Operating Course Certification.
• Possess and maintain a Maryland Paramedic license; National Registry with Maryland license within 30 days if applicable.
• Maintain Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification.
• Maintain CPR Certification.

Responsibilities

• Responds to 911 calls and for service and performs patient assessment: CPR, EKG, CO2 monitoring, transport to care facilities.
• Provides Advanced Life Support care per Maryland protocols, including drug administration when indicated.
• Orders supplies and equipment for the assigned transport unit.
• Performs transport unit inspections and maintenance.
• Documents outcomes, care given and protocols followed for each incident.
• Operates emergency vehicles per County driving procedures and EMS guidelines.
• Interacts with hospital personnel, patients, families and supervisory staff.
• Performs related station duties as required.
