Job summary

Freeman Health System is seeking a Paramedic/EMT to support the Emergency Department on a PRN schedule. You will assist RNs and physicians in delivering care, participate in the nursing process, and collaborate with multiple disciplines to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Under supervision of a registered nurse and medical director, you may perform clinical tasks within your scope of practice. Preferred: Critical Care Paramedic and at least one year of paramedic experience are desired.

Qualifications

• Completion of EMTP program.
• Preferred: Critical Care Paramedic
• Preferred: One year experience as a paramedic

Responsibilities

• Assist RNs and physicians in patient care through the nursing process assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation.
• Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes.
• Functions under the supervision and direction of a registered nurse with direction of the nursing and medical director. Paramedics may perform patient care functions in accordance with their scope of practice under State law and in accordance with the Northwest Health System policy/procedure titled "Role of the Paramedic in the Hospital Setting" (Policy No. 2151.1). Only paramedics who have graduated from an accredited program in paramedic science and have a current state certification and/or license will be hired in the Emergency Department.
