Qualifications

• Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) responding to accidents or emergencies involving injuries and/or illnesses; (2) operating a patient transport vehicle; (3) AND providing advanced life support to patients.

Responsibilities

• Responds to the site of accidents or other emergencies involving injury, illness, or potential environmental risks.
• Assesses condition of patient(s) and selects from a variety of protocols one or several that are deemed appropriate under the given circumstances and based on the paramedics' evaluation.
• Triages patients to determine which patients are treated and transported first and makes notifications to inform the appropriate medical facility ER of a possible Mass Casualty Incident (MCI).
• Recognizes, stabilizes, and treats a wide variety of medical emergencies, (i.e., heart attacks, state of hydration, strokes, environmental [heat exhaustion, heat stroke, etc.], burns [thermal, radiation, and electrical], suicidal patients, etc.)
• Maintains Emergency Vehicles (EV) readiness and inspects vehicles for repairs.
• Operates EV safely and adheres to traffic ordinances and regulations pertaining to the operation of the EV.
