Job Summary

Administers quality patient care to patients under the supervision of an RN or physician, demonstrating clinical competence and meeting established standards. Promotes teamwork with staff, physicians, and other disciplines.

Job Duties
  • Supports the organization’s mission and core values, acting in accordance with them at all times.
  • Adheres to all laws and regulations related to patient health, safety, and medical information.
  • Collaborates with RNs and physicians to support patient care plans.
  • Triages patients according to ESI protocol, performs intubations, starts IVs, administers medications, and other treatments within scope of practice under physician direction.
  • Performs splint applications, cast removals, and other procedures after training.
  • Monitors vital signs, pulse oximetry, EKG, and applies monitoring as needed.
  • Replenishes equipment and supplies in patient areas.
  • Assists with communication tasks such as answering phones and follow-up calls.
  • Participates in emergency department continuing education and performs other duties as assigned.
Job Specifications and Core Competencies
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Licensure: EMT-P licensure in Indiana, ACLS certification.
  • Experience: At least one year as practicing EMT-P.

Other Requirements: Strong customer service and communication skills, knowledge of human behavior and performance.

Work hours may vary based on departmental needs.
