Job summary

CSL Plasma in the United States is seeking a healthcare professional to evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures and to provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff in accordance with licensure and SOPs.

You will interview donors, review medical histories, interpret test results, counsel on reactive findings, and escalate complex cases to the Center Physician or local providers as required to ensure donor safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school or naturopathic medical training program.
• If graduation is from a foreign allopathic or osteopathic medical school, must also currently be licensed as a physician or state certification as an emergency medical technician
• For NY: current state licensure or certification as an RN, MD or DO in the state you are applying for work or in a reciprocal state
• Minimum of one (1) year relevant experience in a health care environment.
• Experience in a plasma or whole blood collection center or other regulated environment preferred.
• Ability to make and analyze a physical assessment of heart, lung sounds, signs of drug use, etc.

Responsibilities

• Under general supervision, evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures.
• Provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff including administering medication or treatments per licensure.
• Interview donors and perform medical history reviews to determine donation suitability.
• In conjunction with the Center Medical Director, respond to medically related questions and provide information to staff on donor suitability.
• Review test results to determine continued donor suitability; assess donor symptoms affecting donation ability.
• Notify and counsel donors regarding reactive test results; refer donors to community facilities for follow-up and counseling.
• Provide routine care following SOPs; escalate critical medical situations to Center Physician or local medical providers as required.
