Job summary

Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, IN is seeking a Part-time Paramedic to join the EMS transport team. This 24-hour per week role supports patient care for all ages under medical direction with a focus on safe transport and adherence to policies.

The position requires active Paramedic license in IDHS, BLS, PALS & ACLS, plus a valid driver’s license. Experience with emergency transport and documentation is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency is required.
• Active Paramedic license through the Indiana DHS is required.
• BLS certification is required.
• PALS & ACLS certifications (AHA/ARC) are required.
• Other IDHS-mandated certifications and specialty training may be required.
• A valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care per medical director approved protocols and state scope of practice.
• Alleviate patient stress and discomfort during transport.
• Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition.
• Complete all required patient care reports within required timeframes.
• Maintain patient care environment and readiness of transport equipment.
• Perform ambulance transport within paramedic scope of practice.
• Prioritize transport for multiple patients as needed.
• Coordinate resource plans and delivery.
• Organize workload for efficient time/resource use.
• Ensure vehicle readiness and equipment stock before and after each shift.

Summary

Provides advanced life support care to patients who are ill and/or injured. Administers direct care to the patient of all age groups under the direction of an emergency medical physician, emergency physician’s assistant, and emergency advanced registered nurse practitioner or utilizes approved EMS protocols if transporting a patient. Ensures adherence to hospital and department policies as well as paramedic scope of practice.

_ Baptist Health is looking for a Part-time, 2 days / 24 hours per week Paramedic to join our EMS transport team at Baptist Health Floyd, 1850 State St, New Albany, IN! _

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provides patient care within the medical director approved department protocols and state scope of practice.

• Initiate’s action to alleviate patient’s stress and discomfort.

• Recognizes, responds to, and communicates changes in patient condition appropriately.

• Thoroughly and accurately completes all required documentation and patient care reports within required timeframe for each patient encounter.

• Provides care appropriate to the emergency population and maintains the environment of care.

• Performs ambulance transportation services within the scope of practice of a Paramedic.

• Sets priorities for the transport of multiple patients.

• Assures resources and coordinates plan of delivery.

• Organizes workload so there is effective utilization of time and resources.

• Accurately completes required documentation and patient care reports within required timeframe.

• Maintains knowledge and familiarity with each vehicle in fleet in order to operate smooth and safely.

• Assures ambulance is clean, stocked and response ready at the beginning and end of every shift as well as prior to each and every request for service.

• Ensures proper vehicle maintenance and equipment readiness as well as proper ALS gear readiness and utilization.

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalency required.

• Active Paramedic license through the Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS).

• BLS certification.

• PALS & ACLS certifications issued by AHA or ARC.

• Other certifications and specialty training as required by the Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS).

• Valid driver’s license.
