The Opportunity
Responsible for evaluating donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures. Administers and supervises approved immunizations other than red blood cell immunizations. Provides limited emergency medical care to donors and staff, including medication or treatments in accordance with licensure or certification.
You will report to the Center Manager.
The Role
- Promotes positive customer relations with all donors.
- Conducts confidential interviews with donors to assess their suitability for plasma donation.
- Collaborates with the Center Medical Director and/or Center Physician to address medically related questions from staff and provides information on donor suitability and related issues.
- Performs medical history reviews and health assessments on donors, analyzing screening and laboratory results to determine ongoing donor suitability.
- Notifies and counsels donors regarding reactive test results, referring them for follow-up and counseling as needed.
- Explains informed consent, including procedures, hazards, adverse events, immunization schedules, doses, and antibody responses, ensuring donors understand and sign consent forms.
- Handles medical emergencies at the Center by providing routine care per SOPs and escalating as necessary; regularly checks emergency kits for supplies and expiry dates.
- Reviews test results to determine continued donor eligibility, adhering to SOPs regarding acceptable test ranges and approval periods.
- Assesses signs and symptoms that may prevent a donor from continuing donation.
- Oversees donor immunization programs, reviews antibody titers, and maintains knowledge of immunization schedules.
- Accurately records donor data in the electronic management system per SOPs.
- Maintains a clean, efficient work environment, ensuring supplies are available, and follows all HSE and OSHA policies, promoting safety and conducting internal audits as needed.
- Maintains confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
- May be cross-trained in other areas to meet business needs.
- Bilingual skills may be required based on organizational needs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Your skills and experience
Education
- Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school, or naturopathic medical training program.
- If graduated from a foreign medical school, must be licensed or certified accordingly.
Experience
- At least one year in a healthcare environment.
- Experience in plasma or blood collection centers preferred.
- Ability to perform and analyze physical assessments.
- Ability to educate donors and staff about plasma donation benefits.
Working Conditions

- Physical ability to stand, walk, reach, bend, kneel, and lift up to 25 pounds.
