Job Description Summary

Responsible for evaluating donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures. Administers and supervises approved immunizations (excluding red blood cell immunizations). Provides limited emergency medical care to donors and staff, including medication or treatment administration in accordance with licensure or certification.

Responsibilities include:

1. Promoting positive customer relations with all donors.
2. Conducting confidential interviews to assess donor suitability.
3. Responding to medically related questions and providing information to staff.
4. Performing medical history reviews and health assessments.
5. Notifying and counseling donors regarding test results and referring for follow-up.
6. Explaining informed consent and obtaining signatures.
7. Handling medical emergencies and maintaining emergency supplies.
8. Reviewing test results and determining continued donor suitability.
9. Assessing signs and symptoms that may affect donation ability.
10. Managing immunization programs and reviewing antibody titers.
11. Recording donor data accurately and maintaining a clean environment.
12. Ensuring safety policies are followed and maintaining confidentiality.
13. Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school, or naturopathic program.
• Current license or certification as required.
• Minimum of one year healthcare experience, preferably in blood/plasma collection.
• Ability to perform physical assessments and instruct donors and staff.

Working Conditions:

• Physical ability to stand, walk, lift up to 25 pounds, and perform assessments.
• Exposure to hazards and requirement to wear PPE.
