Job summary

American Medical Response is seeking a Paramedic in San Jose, CA to deliver advanced patient care on 12-hour shifts. You will work with a dedicated team to assess calls, utilize medical equipment, and coordinate patient transport.

Applicants must hold a State Paramedic License, valid driver’s licenses, and CPR/BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications. AMR offers a $10,000 sign-on bonus, tuition assistance, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• State Paramedic License is required.
• State Driver’s License and Ambulance Driver's License are required.
• Medical Examiners Card is required.
• CPR (AHA BLS) or Red Cross CPR with AED is required.
• Certification in BLS/ACLS/PALS/PEPP/BTLS/PHTLS is required.
• Clean driving record and ability to pass agility test.
• Experience in healthcare is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess each call to determine the best course of action per Paramedic protocols.
• Utilize advanced medical equipment to provide care (defibrillator, monitor, oxygen, IV).
• Communicate with patients and families to provide information and comfort.
• Lead the Paramedic team and manage scene and unit as needed.
• Drive the ambulance on 911 responses.
• Collaborate with allied health and public safety personnel.
• Participate in community programs to support AMR's image.

Responsibilities

• Assess each call situation to determine the best course of action while working with progressive Paramedic protocols.
• Utilize your Paramedic skills on medical equipment and procedures including defibrillator, EKG monitor, oxygen and suction devices, and intravenous fluids to provide advanced medical care.
• Communicate with patients and loved ones to provide information and assurance that care is being given.
• Act as Paramedic team leader and take responsibility for the scene and unit management as needed.
• Drive the ambulance on 911 responses.
• Work collaboratively and in a professional manner with all allied health and public safety personnel as well as your fellow Paramedics.
• Participate in community programs to maintain AMR image and establish strong community relations.
