Job summary

Rural Metro Fire Department in Athens, TN is hiring a Paramedic Lead full-time to oversee daily field operations, mentor staff, and ensure compassionate, high-quality patient care. The role highlights rapid decision-making and effective communication between field crews and leadership.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of Paramedic experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform the required daily functions of a Paramedic Basic and be readily available to assist field personnel.
  • Monitor, communicate with, and support field staff in their tasks and objectives.
  • Assess each call situation to determine the best course of action and make or approve all medical decisions of the unit.
  • Act as a liaison between field staff, management, communications centers, healthcare facilities, and patient families.
  • Work collaboratively with all allied health and public safety personnel to ensure excellent customer service and the best possible patient care.
  • Ensure appropriate system status management goals are upheld by monitoring system status and engaging with the communications center to pre-assign, reassign, and divert crews for optimal efficiency.
  • Ensure all in-service units are serviceable and oversee deployment of field staff; monitor sites for cleanliness.
  • Keep thorough records of issued equipment and ensure return at end of shifts.
  • Assist road crews and supervisory staff with proper PCR transmission.
  • Ensure staff adheres to GMR protocols and escalate issues as needed.
  • Report and address workplace injuries, incidents, and property or equipment damage.
  • Comply with company policies and laws while providing care according to clinical protocols and safety requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

This role is essential to ensuring smooth day-to-day operations byfacilitatingcommunication between field staff and leadership,monitoringsystem status, and making time-critical decisions. The Paramedic Lead also reports daily issues and achievements to leadership, acts as a role model to field employees, andprovidescoaching opportunities when standards are not upheld.

  • Ensure that staff is adhering to GMR protocols and properlyresolve/escalate issues to theappropriate personnel.
  • Promptly report and exceed any workplace injuries, vehicle incidents, and damage to property or equipment.
  • Comply withall company policies and local, state, and federal employment laws while providing patient care according to clinical protocols and safety requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years of Paramedic experience.
  • Some leadership experience preferred.
Education:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Some advanced educationpreferred.
Skills:
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Strong listening and comprehension skills.
  • Ability to adapt to quickly evolving situations.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
Credentials/Licenses:
  • State Paramedic Certification.
  • State Driver’s License with driving record in compliance with GMR’s Safety & Driving policy (proofrequiredif conditional employment is made).
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS/PEPP, BTLS/PHTLS Certifications.
