Job summary

UnityPoint Health – Marshalltown Hospital Emergency Medical Services is recruiting a Paramedic to join our dedicated team. This full-time role covers 24-hour shift rotations every 3 days, serving Marshall County and portions of neighboring counties with rapid 911 response.

You will provide advanced life support, complete documentation, and support hospital-based care. The program includes a $5,000 sign-on bonus and a competitive Total Rewards package.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Successful completion of EMS paramedic training from an approved course.
• Current Paramedic licensure/certification in Iowa.
• Minimum two years of driving experience with no DUI/DWI in past five years.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced life support and prehospital care within EMS guidelines.
• Assess patient needs and adjust care based on condition, setting, and response.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, providers, and care team members.
• Complete timely and accurate documentation of patient care.
• Safely transport patients, including those requiring behavioral health support.
• Maintain ambulance and restock supplies to ensure readiness for emergencies.
• Clean, prepare, and organize vehicles and equipment for emergency response.
• Support hospital-based care needs, including EMS-level procedures.
• Assist nursing and emergency department teams as needed.

• Support hospital-based care needs, including appropriate EMS-level procedures
• Assist nursing and emergency department teams as needed

Qualifications

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent isrequired
• Successful completion of EMS paramedic training from an approved training course.

License(s)/Certification(s):

• Current Paramedic licensure/certification in Iowa
• Must have a minimum of two years driving experience with no record of DUI, DWI, or similar alcohol or drug related offenses over the past five years.
• No record of reckless driving, careless driving, speeding over 15 miles above the speed limit, fleeing or eluding a police officer, chemical test refusal, leaving the scene of an accident, driving after revocation or suspension, or passing a stopped school bus in the last five years.
