Job summary

Trinity Health's ProMed ambulance team in Grand Rapids is seeking a Paramedic to provide ALS support and interfacility transport from the emergency department. The role requires current Michigan Paramedic licensure and certifications in ACLS, BTLS, and CPR, plus a valid MI driver's license and safe driving history.

You will work in a clinical team, delivering rapid patient assessment, stabilization, and advanced care in pre-hospital settings while coordinating with ED staff and other agencies.

Qualifications

  • Current Paramedic license from the State of Michigan.
  • ACLS, BTLS and CPR certification required.
  • Valid Michigan driver license with clean record.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ALS support for interfacility transports from stand-alone ERs.
  • Assess and stabilize higher-acuity patients prior to transport.
  • Perform ALS interventions including monitoring, IVs, meds, airway management.
  • Coordinate care with BLS crews and ED staff.
  • Observe, record, and report patient condition and responses to interventions.

Paramedic, ProMed will need:
  • Current Paramedic license from the State of Michigan.

  • Certification in ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), BTLS (Basic Trauma Life Support), and CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation).

  • Valid State of Michigan motor vehicle operating license, with continued safe driving history.

  • Articulates and demonstrates commitment to the philosophy, values, mission and vision of MH.

Paramedic, ProMed will do:
  • Provides ALS support for BLS interfacility transports serving stand-alone emergency departments.

  • Assesses and stabilizes higher-acuity patients before transport when advanced care is needed.

  • Performs ALS interventions, including cardiac monitoring, medication administration, and advanced airway and ventilator management.

  • Intercepts BLS ambulances when a patient's condition deteriorates and ALS care is required.

  • Provides clinical consultation and support to BLS crews and ED staff.

  • Enhances system efficiency by deploying paramedics in rapid-response vehicles rather than dedicated ALS transport units.

  • Assesses nature and extent of illness of injury to establish and prioritize medical procedures to be followed or need for additional assistance.

  • Restores and stabilizes heart rhythm on pulseless, non-breathing patients.

  • Monitors cardiac patient.

  • Initiates intravenous fluids to administer medication or drugs, or to replace fluids lacking in the body.

  • Performs endotracheal intubation to open airways and ventilate patient.

  • Administers injections of medications, drugs or immunization.

  • Administers initial treatment at emergency scene and takes and records patient’s vital signs.

  • Provide medical examination and screening of patients consistent with Medical Control Authority Protocols.

  • Assists in extricating trapped victims and transports sick and injured persons to treatment center

  • Lifts and places patients on stretcher, restrains patient appropriately, lifts and moves patient to stretcher, lifts and moves loaded stretcher into ambulance.

  • Observes, records, and reports to physician, patient’s condition, and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.

  • Remains in the back of the ambulance with all patients they are taking care of.

  • Coordinates patient care between inter-agency (ie. Fire and Police) personnel and other company employees.

  • Other duties as assigned.
