Job summary

ProMed (Pro-Med) is seeking a Paramedic to join our ALS ambulance team in Michigan. You will work 12-hour shifts on a rotating schedule, with 36 hours one week and 48 hours the next, including every other weekend.

You will perform advanced pre-hospital care and coordinate with Fire/Police teams to transport patients to treatment facilities. Responsibilities include airway management, IV therapy, medication administration, and critical patient monitoring.

Qualifications

  • Current Paramedic license from the State of Michigan.
  • Certification in ACLS, BTLS, and CPR.
  • Valid State of Michigan motor vehicle operating license, with continued safe driving history.
  • Articulates and demonstrates commitment to the philosophy, values, mission and vision of MH.

Responsibilities

  • Assess nature and extent of illness or injury and prioritize procedures.
  • Restore and stabilize heart rhythm in emergencies.
  • Monitor cardiac patients and administer IV fluids and medications.
  • Perform endotracheal intubation to secure airways.
  • Coordinate patient care between inter-agency personnel and Pro-Med staff.
  • Complete all reports promptly and maintain vehicle readiness at shift changes.
  • Maintain safety, PPE usage, and adherence to company policies.

Paramedic, ProMed Will Need
  • Current Paramedic license from the State of Michigan.
  • Certification in ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), BTLS (Basic Trauma Life Support), and CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation).

Paramedic, ProMed Will Do
  • Assesses nature and extent of illness of injury to establish and prioritize medical procedures to be followed or need for additional assistance.
  • Restores and stabilizes heart rhythm on pulseless, non-breathing patients.
  • Monitors cardiac patient.
  • Initiates intravenous fluids to administer medication or drugs, or to replace fluids lacking in the body.
  • Performs endotracheal intubation to open airways and ventilate patient.
  • Administers injections of medications, drugs or immunization.
  • Administers initial treatment at emergency scene and takes and records patient's vital signs.
  • Provide medical examination and screening of patients consistent with Medical Control Authority Protocols.
  • Assists in extricating trapped victims and transports sick and injured persons to treatment center
  • Lifts and places patients on stretcher, restrains patient appropriately, lifts and moves patient to stretcher, lifts and moves loaded stretcher into ambulance.
  • Observes, records, and reports to physician, patient's condition, and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
  • Remains in the back of the ambulance with all patients they are taking care of.
  • Coordinates patient care between inter-agency (ie. Fire and Police) personnel and other company employees.
  • Operates Pro-Med vehicles in a safe, professional manner being attentive to the needs of the patients he/she is transporting.
  • Communicates with Physician and other medical personnel via radio or telephone.
  • Completes all reports, including patient care records, legibly, accurately and on a timely basis.
  • At each shift change, checks medical/operating supplies and vehicle utilizing Pro-Med's shift check list. At each shift change, inspects vehicle to ensure that it is ready for service (e.g. brakes, lights, fluids, etc.)
  • Performs all duties in a safe, courteous, confidential and professional manner, always taking into account the well-being of the patient.
  • Maintains response readiness consistent with company's response criteria.
  • Uses safety and PPE equipment as required by law and company policies.
  • Maintains vehicles and quarters pursuant to Pro-Med policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
