Job summary

City of Dothan's Fire Department is seeking a Firefighter (Paramedic) who responds to fires and medical emergencies, providing rapid fire suppression and advanced medical care to the ill and injured.

This role requires Alabama Firefighter I/II, Nationally Registered EMT, and a training mindset; duty includes equipment checks, reports, trainings, public education, and community fire safety outreach.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Alabama Firefighter I/II certification required.
• Nationally Registered EMT certification required.
• Paramedic and Advanced EMT certifications preferred.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Respond to fire calls and evaluate actions to control emergencies.
• Operate pumps, ladders, hoses, and equipment at scenes.
• Provide emergency medical care at scenes.
• Complete incident reports.
• Complete required training and maintain certifications.
• Inspect and maintain equipment.
• Maintain inventory aboard vehicles.
• Provide fire prevention information and teach safety.
• Perform housekeeping and building maintenance duties.
• Conduct tours for schools and groups.
• Participate in public education events.
• Pre-incident planning for structures.
• Inspect and service hydrants.
• Assist with fire investigations.
• Perform related duties.
