Job summary

City of Tumwater seeks a dedicated Paramedic/Firefighter to provide advanced life support, fire suppression, and rescue services in Thurston County. Responsibilities include patient care, incident response, and equipment readiness while coordinating with partner agencies.

Eligible candidates will hold a Washington State Paramedic Certification, complete IFSAC Firefighter I/II and a Fire Academy, and have minimum 24 months with a public-safety employer.

Qualifications

• Must be currently employed as a full-time firefighter/paramedic.
• Must have ≥24 consecutive months with current public-safety employer.
• Valid Washington State Paramedic Certification or National Registered Paramedic Certification is required.
• Must have completed IFSAC Firefighter I, Firefighter II, and an accredited Fire Academy.

Responsibilities

• Provide emergency medical care and advanced life support under protocols and physician direction.
• Perform fire suppression, rescue, and emergency response within incident command and safety procedures.
• Operate and maintain EMS equipment, vehicles, and supplies; complete patient care reports.
• Train staff, participate in pre-incident planning, and contribute to community fire prevention efforts.
