You will report to the Plasma Center Manager and will perform as a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations.

About the role:

Every day, the donors you meet will motivate you. The high-quality plasma you collect will become life-changing medicines. Here, a commitment to customer service and quality is expected. You will determine donor eligibility to donate plasma, manage donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and notify donors of unsuitable test results. The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) works under the guidance of the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager) for operational guidance and under the management of the Center Physician for medical issues. The Medical Support Specialist should be familiar with regulations of the plasma collection industry or a manufacturing environment and follows guidance provided by BioLife Medical Affairs, supporting environmental, health, and safety (EHS) at the center.

How you will contribute

• Determine donor eligibility, including managing informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review of Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
• Evaluate donor reactions as per SOPs, including handling medical emergencies and developing standing orders with the Center Physician.
• Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical issues concerning donor safety and eligibility.
• Support vaccination programs such as Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu for employees.
• Manage employee incidents and determine if further evaluation is needed by occupational health/ER, referring to EHS guidance.
• Support investigations related to pandemic threats as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized.

What you bring to Takeda:

• High school diploma or equivalent, including graduate from a recognized nursing program with state requirements.
• Current license or certification as EMT-Paramedic in the state of responsibilities.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Satisfactorily complete FDA-approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• At least two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
