  • Maintains readiness of emergency vehicles and equipment; ensures cleanliness.
  • Attends departmental training sessions and maintains records.
  • Provides mutual aid to other county departments and jurisdictions.
  • Operates radio and other communication equipment.
  • Performs general maintenance and upkeep of facilities and equipment.

Paramedic

Full Time & PRN Opportunities for EMT and Paramedic in Southeast Kansas.

Summary

Administers life support care to sick and injured persons under the direction of a paramedic in a pre‑hospital setting as permitted and authorized by State of Kansas KBEMS and local protocol approved by Medical Staff.

Essential Functions
  • Performs all authorized activities as described in K.S.A. 65-6119 and amendments.
  • Determines appropriate facility to which the patient will be transported, reports nature and extent of injuries or illness to that facility, and asks for direction from hospital physician or emergency department.
  • Observes patient en‑route and administers care as directed by physician or emergency department standing orders.
  • Identifies diagnostic signs that require communication with the facility.
  • Assists in removing patient from ambulance and into the emergency facility.
  • Reports verbally and in writing observations about care of patient at the scene and en‑route to facility and provides assistance to emergency staff as required.
  • Maintains all emergency vehicles and equipment in a state of readiness at all times, ensures cleanliness and readiness of vehicles, equipment and facilities.
  • Attends departmental training sessions.
  • Maintains appropriate records and reports.
  • Provides mutual aid service to other county departments and other jurisdictions.
  • Operates radio and other communication equipment.
  • Performs general maintenance work in the upkeep of the facilities and equipment; cleans the offices, classrooms, bathrooms, emergency vehicles and equipment, ambulance bays and storage areas as needed; utilizes proper decontaminating procedures; cares for grounds around station; makes minor repairs, washes, hangs and dries clothing and items.
Qualifications
  • Maintain a current EMT/MICT certification.
  • One to two years experience in EMS service desired.
  • Requires CPR, PALS, ACLS and PHTLS.
  • Valid driver’s license, with good driving record.
  • If you do not have ACLS/PALS, you can enroll in the next available class at Labette Health.
