Job summary

Saint Luke’s Health System in Kansas City area seeks a Paramedic for PRN shifts to provide advanced ALS care and critical care transport. You will triage, assess, and prioritize patients, perform invasive and noninvasive procedures, and administer meds under physician orders.

You’ll support ED and nursing staff and participate in security tasks as needed, ensuring patient safety. Ideal candidates have 2 years of applicable experience, ACLS/BLS, PALS, and a KS Paramedic license, with a commitment

Qualifications

• 2 years of applicable EMS experience.
• Current ACLS certification.
• BLS certification required.
• Paramedic license (KS) from Kansas Board of EMS.
• PALS certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced ALS care in prehospital settings and critical care transport.
• Perform triage and emergencies per physician orders, including invasive and noninvasive procedures and meds.
• Assist ED team and RN in emergency department.
• Mentor and plan care for patients with exposure to environmental threats.
• Ensure hospital entrances are secured at night and provide first-line security if needed.

Job Description

Provides advanced ALS skills often under arduous circumstances in the prehospital environment. Also provides critical care transportation to appropriate healthcare facilities. Responsible for triage to efficiently assess and prioritize patients according to acuity of their condition to provide emergency care including a variety of invasive and noninvasive procedures administration of medications and any procedures as may be deemed necessary by ordering physician based on practice standards. Assists the RN and ED provider in providing care for patients undergoing emergency care in the emergency department. Mentor and specializes in planning and providing care for patients contaminated or injured from an environment agent such as nuclear chemical and biological terrorism. Secures hospital and Family Care Center by verifying designated entrances are locked each night. Provides firstline security for hospital if secured entrances have been breeched until law enforcement arrives
