Job summary

The City of Roanoke, Virginia, seeks a Paramedic for a full-time position with Roanoke Fire-EMS. Duties include emergency medical services work under hazardous conditions, inventory and vehicle maintenance, and public education tasks.

Must meet age and licensing requirements and pass a drug screen. Applicants should have EMT-Paramedic credentials (or be an EMT-I progressing to Paramedic within 12 months), plus AHA, ACLS, PHTLS, and PALS certifications.

Qualifications

• Requires EMT-Paramedic certification or EMT-I with plan to obtain EMT-Paramedic within 1 year
• Must be 18 years old and pass drug screening
• EVOC license valid in Virginia and ability to drive emergency vehicles
• Bilingual Spanish/English encouraged to apply

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining equipment inventory on EMS vehicles
• Maintain EMS vehicles and stations in clean, working order
• Respond to emergency medical calls and provide patient care with basic and advanced life support
• Prepare reports and records as required
• Engage in public education and standby situations when not on EMS calls
