Job description

GENERAL SUMMARY

Provides basic and advanced life support treatment, care, and evaluation of patients. Responsibilities include:

1. Identifying, intervening, and stabilizing ill or injured patients under the supervision of a physician and/or Registered Nurse.
2. Initiating and implementing interventions based on transport team protocols.
3. Monitoring, recording, and communicating patient condition and treatment as appropriate.
4. Providing population-specific education to patients and families about the patient's illness and therapeutic interventions.
5. Inspecting, maintaining, and caring for equipment to ensure safety for the transport team, patients, and the public.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

- High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE REQUIRED

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 month (30 days) of hire or transfer date. Acceptable from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Paramedic credentialed from the Michigan Emergency Medical Services prior to hire or transfer date.
• Advanced Life Support (preferred). Acceptable from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Neonatal Resuscitation certification from the American Academy of Pediatrics (preferred).
• ER Vehicle Operation certification (preferred).
• Drivers License from the Michigan Bureau of Motor Vehicles (preferred).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (preferred). Acceptable from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
