Paramedic - Emergency Department (Edmond) - Nights

Position Overview

This role involves providing emergency medical services under the guidance of the shift supervisor or manager, working closely with physicians and nurses to deliver patient care. Responsibilities include collecting patient information, assisting with treatment, monitoring vital signs, and performing basic laboratory procedures.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Provide care according to OU Medical Center policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare team to implement treatment plans.
  • Maintain clear communication with physicians and nurses regarding patient care.
  • Monitor and report patient signs and symptoms.
  • Assist in delivering and documenting care, ensuring patient safety.
  • Perform vital signs, record inputs and outputs, and monitor cardiac rhythms.
  • Receive patients from EMS, prepare them for physician care, and collect laboratory specimens.
  • Perform venipunctures and manage IV lines.
Minimum Qualifications

Education: Successful completion of a Paramedic training program.

Experience: At least 2 years of hospital and/or pre-hospital experience.

Licensure/Certifications: Valid Oklahoma Paramedic license, BLS (American Heart Association), and ACLS (American Heart Association) within 3 months of hire.

Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of hospital policies, medical terminology, and office procedures.
  • Effective communication and computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office and hospital software.
  • Ability to follow instructions, handle multiple tasks, and work collaboratively in a healthcare setting.
