Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare seeks an experienced clinical support professional to assist nurses and staff, ensuring quality patient care. You will perform venipuncture, IV starts, EKGs, respiratory therapies and critical care procedures under nurses and physicians, while maintaining regulatory and safety standards.

Role requires Paramedic certification (VA or National Registry), BLS/ACLS/PALS, a high school diploma, and strong multi-disciplinary collaboration in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• High School / GED required.
• Current Virginia State Paramedic Certification and/or National Registry required.
• AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire.
• AHA ACLS required at hire.
• AHA PALS required at hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct and indirect patient care under the direction of and as assigned by the Nurse Manager, Patient Care Manager, Charge Nurse or Team Leader.
• Determines priorities of care based on patient needs and flow through the system.
• Assists patients with basic care needs and duties related to patient well-being.
• Administers treatments and procedures to patients as ordered by the physician and directed by the Nursing Staff.
• Communicates with Emergency Department physicians about changes in patient status and diagnostic results.
• Performs monitor technician duties and responds to changes in condition or treatment results as needed.
• Obtains vital signs and performs venipuncture/IV starts as required.
• Maintains competence in medication management and administration and in procedural skills.
