CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center - Bergan Mercy in Omaha, NE, seeks an experienced Paramedic to provide advanced pre-hospital and inter-facility emergency care and transport. The role requires Nebraska EMT-P licensure, BLS, ACLS/PALS within six months, and ongoing education to maintain credentials.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current Nebraska Paramedic (EMT-P) licensure required upon hire.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification or BLS Instructor certification required upon hire.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or ACLS Instructor certification required within six months of hire.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification or PALS Instructor certification required within six months of hire.
• Must maintain all required licenses, certifications, and continuing education requirements in good standing throughout employment.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care and emergency interventions within scope of practice, including administering medications, oxygen therapy, cardiac monitoring, EKGs, blood glucose testing, IV/IO/EJ access, Foley catheterization, wound care, splinting, bandaging, immobilization, CPR, and intubation under direct physician supervision.
• Assesses, monitors, and documents patient status by performing reassessments, recording vital signs and treatments, and consulting with supervising nurses and physicians.
• Responds to emergency situations and supports trauma care by participating in code/trauma activations and assisting with patient extrication, stabilization, and transport.
• Facilitates patient flow and operational support through patient transport within the ED and hospital campus, and by obtaining patient demographics and billing information.
• Maintains compliance with clinical standards and CHI Health policies, reporting concerns to leadership.
• Promotes professional, patient-centered care and ongoing development by providing care under RN supervision within approved acuity levels.
