Job summary

MercyOne Waterloo is hiring a Paramedic for full-time night shift (80 hours biweekly). The role supports emergency care across multiple MercyOne facilities in Northeast Iowa and the Cedar Valley region.

The ideal candidate has ambulance or ER experience, Iowa EMT-P/CCP certification, and required BLS/ACLS/PALS/PHTLS, with NVCI training within 6 months of hire and paramedic education completion.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1-year ambulance or emergency room experience preferred.
• Current Iowa EMT-P/CCP certification.
• BLS, ACLS, PALS and PHTLS certifications strongly preferred.
• NVCI training within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide outcome/goal-based nursing care for patients under supervision.
• Monitor, observe and report patient response to interventions.
• Communicate relevant clinical information to the team to optimize outcomes.

A Paramedic at MercyOne, through evidence-based practice, under the supervision of a registered nurse or ED providers, provides outcome/goal-based nursing care for patients and assists the Registered Nurse in monitoring, observing and reporting patient response to interventions. Adheres to MercyOne's performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of MercyOne.

• Conducts initial and ongoing observations to gather data.
• Assists in development of the outcome/goal-based plan of care.
• Assists with the implementation of an outcome/goal-based plan of care.
• Assists in monitoring patient progress toward individual identified patient outcomes/goals.
• Communicates relevant clinical information to the team to optimize patient outcomes/goals.

Schedule:

• Full-Time/ 80 Hours Biweekly / Night Shift

General Requirements:

• Minimum of 1-year ambulance or emergency room experience preferred.
• Current certified Iowa EMT-PM or CCP
• BLS provider
• ACLS
• PALS
• PHTLS highly recommended.
• Mandatory Reporter.
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (NVCI) within 6 months of hire.

Education:

• Graduate of a Iowa Paramedic Specialist Course or National Paramedic Course.
