Responds to calls for emergency medical services and provides patient care as directed and/or determined necessary.
Reports to: Prehospital Operations Manager
FLSA: Non-exempt

Job Summary

Provides high quality pre-hospital advanced life support as a paramedic representing Conemaugh Health System while assisting EMS providers in the field via ground-based response. Assumes responsibility and accountability for the treatment outcome of patients of all ages including the neonate, pediatric, adult and geriatric populations as defined by the paramedic scope of practice through Department of Health Guidelines.

  • Knowledgeable in use and routine maintenance of all equipment and supplies to assure readiness and immediate response to assist providers by ground
  • Maintains positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues, EMS representatives, hospitals, physicians and the public
  • Participates in patient and referring institution follow up
  • Participates in planned outreach, marketing and education activities
  • Maintains awareness of current issues related to pre-hospital care
  • Assume responsibility and accountability in communications with transfer center and receiving physicians through the transfer center line
  • Maintains and completes all required licensure, certifications, continuing education, state and departmental requirements
  • Serves as role model, educator, and clinical resource
  • Participates in orientation of new employees and students as assigned
  • Acts as a liaison and communicates hospital and program mission, values and goals
  • Maintains the values as associated with the Ideal Patient Experience and Commitments to Excellence
