Job summary

Maria Parham Health, part of Lifepoint Health, seeks a Paramedic to deliver high-quality emergency care. You will operate ambulances, assess patients, and provide ALS in accordance with NC scope of practice, while coordinating with physicians, nurses, dispatch, and first responders.

You will document care with electronic reports, maintain equipment, and uphold infection control standards. This role emphasizes teamwork across emergency services and continuous learning.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree preferred and state licensure.
  • EMT-P certification required.
  • BLS/ACLS/PALS/PEPP per guidelines within set timeframes.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate ambulances and emergency vehicles and respond to calls according to laws and policies.
  • Assess patients, obtain histories, perform exams, determine priorities and treatments.
  • Provide ALS care within NC Paramedic scope, including airway management and monitoring.
  • Monitor patients during treatment and transport; communicate status to receiving providers.
  • Complete ePCRs and maintain documentation per standards.
  • Coordinate with physicians, nurses, dispatch, and emergency responders for seamless care.
  • Inspect and restock ambulances and equipment; ensure readiness and infection control.

How You\'ll Contribute
A Paramedic who excels in this role:

  • Safely operate ambulances and emergency vehicles in accordance with all applicable laws, policies, and safe driving practices while responding to emergency and non-emergency calls.
  • Assess patients by obtaining medical history, performing physical assessments, determining the nature and severity of illness or injury, and establishing appropriate treatment priorities.
  • Provide advanced life support (ALS) care within the North Carolina Paramedic scope of practice, including airway management, cardiac monitoring, medication administration, IV/IO access, resuscitation, trauma care, and other emergency interventions.
  • Continuously monitor and reassess patients during treatment and transport, adjusting care as needed and communicating patient status to receiving healthcare providers.
  • Complete accurate electronic patient care reports (ePCRs) and maintain all required documentation in accordance with agency standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with physicians, nurses, dispatch, fire departments, law enforcement, and other emergency responders to ensure seamless patient care and determine when additional resources are needed.
  • Inspect, maintain, and restock ambulances, medications, and medical equipment to ensure operational readiness and compliance with agency standards.
  • Maintain a safe and sanitary work environment by following infection control practices, utilizing appropriate PPE, and cleaning and disinfecting vehicles and equipment after each patient encounter.
  • Demonstrate sound clinical judgment while remaining calm and effective in high-stress, rapidly changing, or hazardous environments involving single or multiple patient incidents.
  • Represent Harris EMS professionally through exceptional patient care, community outreach, educational events, and positive interactions with patients, families, healthcare partners, and the public.
  • Participate in continuing education, quality improvement initiatives, required training, and maintain all certifications and clinical competencies. Support the orientation and development of new employees and students as assigned.

Education: Associate\'s Degree Preferred; Graduate of a Program in Discipline; validated by current state licensure

Licenses: Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-P)

Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 30 days of hire; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Pediatric Education for Prehospital Professionals (PEPP) within 6 months of hire date
