Job summary

Pafford Emergency Medical Services is seeking experienced paramedics to provide advanced life support and urgent care to patients in need. The role requires paramedic licensure, ACLS, PALS, and the ability to operate emergency ambulances and coordinate with police, EMTs, and hospital teams.

You will document patient information, maintain equipment, and follow protocols to ensure timely and effective treatment in diverse emergency scenarios across the service area.

Qualifications

  • Paramedic license required.
  • CPR for Health Care Provider required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required.
  • Knowledge of rescue equipment and emergency medical equipment used in Advanced Life Support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide and direct fast, efficient Advanced Life Support to ill or injured patients.
  • Recognize emergencies and formulate appropriate differential diagnoses.
  • Identify dysrhythmias and apply life-saving treatment.
  • Coordinate with first responders and hospital staff to ensure continuity of care.
  • Operate emergency ambulances safely and transport patients to care facilities.
  • Maintain patient care documentation and reporting for receiving hospital and administration.

Job description

• Provides and directs fast, efficient Advanced Life Support to the ill and injured utilizing all basic and advanced abilities and techniques, including but not limi ted to the placement of peripheral and intra-o sseous lin es, Supraglottic airways, endotracheal intubations , Cricothyrotomy, fluid and drug therapy, cardiac monitoring and EKG int erp ret ations, defibrillation, and cardioversion;

• Recognizes and understands a medical emergency and makes reasonable and acceptab l e differential diagnosis;

• Recognizes common cardiacdysrhythmias and understands the principles and treatment modalities for li fe threatening dysrhythmias ;

• Understa nd s and anticipates the pharmacological treatment of critically ill and injured patients;

• Understands and anticipates potentially life-threatening presentation of non-cardiac emergenc i es andinstitut e s appropriat e e mergency therapy where essential for the preservation of life;

• Deals with medical andemotiona l needsof any victimofacuteillnessorinjurywiththegoal of reducingmortalityand morbidity;

• Responsible for managing and directing all first responders at the scene of a medical emergency such as EMR's, Police Departments, and EMT's;

• Responsible for quality patient-care as established by the Company;

• Files standard i zed reportsofpatient informationand care forthe useofreceiving hospital andadministration,including natureofrequestfor aid,pertinentpasthistory,therapyprovided diagnosis, dispositionandsufficientpatient informationforbilling purposes;

• Maintains effective communication with physici a n ondutyathospitalto relate patient condition and obtainorders for treatment;

• Follows standard written protocols when a physician cannot be contacted;

• Transport s the ill and injured to institution s of medical care ;

• Operates emergency vehicles in a safe manner under all condition;

• Properly comp l etes patient statistics and medical information forms fo r administrative use ;

• Performs technical r escues in remo v ing victims from varied terrain and circumstances; and

• Follow s stan dard operating policies and procedure s as de ve l oped and direc ted by the Company ;

• Cleans and Maintains equipment .

• Maintains records of vehicles, su ppli es, training and daily work; and

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

GENERAL INFORMATION :

The s upervi so r makes assignmentsinterms of shifts tobeworked and the generalscopeofthework assignment. Theincumbent performs theworkinaccordance withtheprocedures,policiesandmedicalordersprovided. The incumbent mustexercisejudgmentinapplying the proper guideline to the proper situation. The workisspot checked and evaluated based on feedback fromthe patient,medical staff and others.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must possess and maintain:

• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

• Good knowledge of the street sys tem s, addresses andphysica l layoutofthearea,and of the rescueequipment andtheemergency medicalequipmentusedinAdvanced Life Support.

• Good ability to :

• M aintain a professiona l attitude when representing the Co mpany ;

• E stab li s h andmaintaineffectiveworkingrelationshipswith otheremployees,assistingagencies,hospitalpersonneland thegeneralpublic:

• D rive and operate emergency ambulance units;

• A uthor reports with narrative and numeric information.

Additionally, incumbents must maintain a high degree of academic and practical knowledge in emergency para-medicine , and must attend sufficient continuing education classes, courses and seminars both on and off dut y to maintain annual paramedic certification, as required by the state in which you will be working.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

The work requires the incumbent to operate emergency medica l vehicles , move medica l equipment and extract injured persons from a wide variety of situations. Situation can in vo l ve veh i cular, industrial and residential accidents, injurie s or illn ess and occ ur anywhere in our coverage area. At times the work requires mov e m ent over various types of terrain , (hilly , steep, rocky, rough, and/or wet/s li ppery surfaces). The incumbent always must be able to carry or help carry someone from the site of the injury to the mode of transportation (vehicle/helicopter) and attend the injured party to the hospital. In order to perform a physical assessment of the injured party, the incumbent must see, hear and communicate wi t h the injured party.

Paramed ic s wi ll be i ss ued and must wear Company issued uniforms while o n duty;additionally,Paramedicswillberesponsible forthemaintenanceand cleaningofuniforms,as wellas allissuedequipment.

Paramedics arerequiredto carry a Companyissuedpager/radio at alltimesinorder toreceiveimmediatenotificationof an assignment.
