Job summary

The State of Wyoming Office of the Attorney General seeks a legal assistant/paralegal for the Water & Natural Resources Division. You will perform legal research, draft/edit documents, manage case files, and assist with discovery, hearings, and trials for multiple attorneys with tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Paralegal/Legal Studies
• 0-2 years of progressive work experience in Paralegal/Legal Studies or 3-5 years with substitutions
• National Association of Legal Assistants certificate as CLA/ALS/CP/PACE Registered Paralegal
• Knowledge of legal procedures and office workflow
• Knowledge of legal research and terminology
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Responsibilities

• Assist attorneys in hearings, meetings, and court filings; draft correspondence and pleadings; organize case documents.
• Assist at trial: witness interviews, notes, exhibits, and post-trial documents.
• Maintain information on opinions and rules for the division.
• Answer calls, schedule meetings, manage calendars and mail.
• Prepare reports and summaries; explain legal provisions to clients.
