Job summary

City of New York's Kings County District Attorney’s Office seeks a Community Coordinator to oversee BOLT Paralegals and Clerks, ensuring timely discovery handling and staff training. You will supervise, assign tasks, monitor case prep progress, review files, and provide administrative support while coordinating with senior staff to improve performance and enforce deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community-centered activities related to the duties described above.
• High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community-centered activities related to the duties described above.
• Education and/or experience equivalent to the above, with at least one year of experience as described in the first item.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and trains BOLT Paralegals and Clerks to the standards of the unit.
• Ensures BOLT Paralegals receive comprehensive training on the process of obtaining discovery.
• Provide input into staff assignments, oversee, and monitor the progress and status of case preparation and performance of paralegals and clerks, ensuring deadlines are met.
• Review all files and documents and provide instructions on the proper action taken.
• Provide backup coverage for non-legal staff as needed.
• Collaborate with Bureau Chief and Discovery Support Director on developing plans and recommendations to improve staff knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Evaluate staff performance and provide feedback for improvement.
• Ensure updates to Bureau Chief and Discovery Support Director on case issues and staff performance and provide documentation to HR.
• Draft annual tasks and standards and performance reviews for all paralegals and clerks; address issues related to performance, tardiness, and behavior.
• Disseminate relevant documents, information, and office policies to staff.
• Provide administrative support for the bureau in various areas.
• Perform other related duties as necessary.
