Job summary

UL Solutions is seeking a senior paralegal to provide substantive support to internal and external attorneys across commercial and employment litigation. The role involves case management, drafting legal documents, coordinating discovery, and assisting with trial logistics.

You will lead a team of Legal Assistants and Paralegals, maintain confidentiality, interact with attorneys, prepare case summaries, and ensure timely filings with federal/state courts and arbitration bodies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree; Paralegal Certificate with 7+ years of relevant experience.

Job description

Provides substantive assistance to internal and external attorneys regarding the management and resolution of a wide range of complicated and sensitive legal matters, including but not limited to supporting attorneys throughout all phases of commercial and employment litigation. This position plays a significant and meaningful role in case management, preparing legal documents, and coordinating discovery and trial logistics.

• Coordinate the work of Legal Assistants, Paralegals, and other legal support staff on major legal support efforts.

• Basic understanding and general familiarity of applicable commercial and employment law, regulations, and other applicable requirements.

• Ability to effectively interact with internal and external attorneys and demonstrated ability to play a key substantive role in effectively managing litigation and other legal projects.

• Analyzes, interprets and validates information on complex legal issues and relevant topics relating to UL Solutions’ business and generates meaningful insights to inform decision-making.

• Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and organize legal documentation resulting in improved accessibility and efficiency for the legal team.

• Drafts correspondence and legal memos on complex subject matters and maintains a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.

• Prepare and draft various legal documents, including preparation of detailed case summaries for attorney review.

• Prepare and file documents with federal and state courts, arbitration and dispute resolution bodies, and government agencies.

• Effectively manage discovery process, including without limitation witness interviews and witness preparation.

• Prepare for trials and provide trial support, including maintaining exhibits.

• Works with various business units within the organization to collect and/or provide relevant information and data.

• Proficient with legal technology and software tools applicable to the assigned practice area.

• Provides recommendations on best practices; implements enhancements; improves processes to ensure the delivery of consistently exceptional service and high-quality outcomes.

• Collaborates with businesses and other corporate functions within the organization on complex projects.

• Bachelor's degree; Paralegal Certificate plus generally 7+ years relevant experience.

• Attention to detail and organizational skills are critical.

• Clear and effective communication skills both orally and in writing.

• Ability to multitask and successfully manage a variety of demands daily.

• Ability to work independently and be proactive with high volumes of tasks and projects.

• React with appropriate urgency to situations and events.

Total Rewards:

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. The estimated salary range for this position is $120,000 to $160,000 USD and is based on multiple factors, including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, as well as other factors. This position is eligible for annual bonus compensation with a target payout of 10% of the base salary. This position also provides health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental and financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country. We also provide full-time employees with paid time off including vacation (15 days), holiday and personal days (totaling 12 days) and sick time off (72 hours).
