Position Summary

The Litigation Paralegal Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing and managing the paralegal team supporting the Firm's Litigation, Bankruptcy, Labor & Employment, Banking & Financial Services, Construction, and Healthcare practice groups. The Manager is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of the paralegal team within these practice groups, ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of support. This role involves managing workflow, providing guidance to paralegals, and collaborating with attorneys to optimize legal processes within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor and manage work allocation of Paralegals supporting the Litigation, Bankruptcy, Labor & Employment, Banking & Financial Services, Construction and Healthcare practice groups across all offices, balancing caseloads and staffing needs to ensure timely, high-quality support. Manage PTO and other time-off requests, proactively coordinating schedules to ensure adequate coverage across practice groups at all times. Monitor Paralegals’ hours, utilization, and scope of responsibilities, ensuring workloads are appropriately distributed and aligned with each paralegal’s skill set and capacity. Direct day-to-day Paralegal team operations, serving as the primary point of accountability for team performance and workflow management. Cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with Paralegal team members and attorneys to promote collaboration, trust, and open communication. Partner with the Director to develop, implement, and refine policies, procedures, and best practices that support the Paralegal team’s effectiveness and growth. Oversee all aspects of Paralegal performance, including conducting evaluations, providing constructive feedback, and addressing performance concerns as needed. Identify and forecast Paralegal staffing and hiring needs, working closely with practice group leaders to anticipate growth and workload demands. Guide employee career advancement and professional development, managing performance-related matters and supporting long-term growth within the Firm. Design and manage the onboarding, orientation, and training program for new Paralegals, ensuring a smooth transition and strong foundational knowledge. Foster seamless coordination and communication among Paralegals across the Litigation, Bankruptcy, Labor & Employment, Banking & Financial Services, Construction and Healthcare practice groups, promoting consistency and teamwork firmwide. Oversee the ongoing training and professional development of Paralegals, ensuring skills remain current with practice group needs and industry standards. Uphold the highest level of confidentiality in handling sensitive matters, documents, and client information. Travel to all Bradley offices to meet with paralegals, attorneys, and office administrators to assess office-specific needs, and develop tailored strategies for optimal paralegal utilization.

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree in legal studies, paralegal studies, business, or a related field. 7 years minimum paralegal experience. Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role is preferred. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Detail oriented with strong proofreading skills. Knowledge and understanding of legal principles and practices. Ability to apply understanding and knowledge of the litigation process from pretrial to post-trial. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Superior interpersonal skills to ensure effective communication across a diverse group of internal and external clients, attorneys and staff while maintaining high level of work quality and customer service. Ability to travel locally and nationwide as needed. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with appropriate discretion.
