Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys with creditor representation in commercial bankruptcy matters, monitor filings and deadlines.
  • Monitor bankruptcy dockets through PACER/ECF, identify deadlines and developments.
  • Prepare and file bankruptcy-related pleadings and supporting documents.
  • Assist with commercial litigation and collection matters from review to judgment enforcement.
  • Prepare and organize case files, exhibits, and supporting documentation for hearings.
  • Draft documents such as complaints, affidavits, motions, and discovery requests.
  • Assist with post-judgment enforcement, garnishments, liens, and related remedies.
  • Coordinate service of process and track completion.
  • Maintain calendaring and docket management to meet deadlines.

Paralegal / Legal Processor – Commercial Litigation, Collections & Bankruptcy

We are seeking a Paralegal / Legal Processor to support attorneys in handling commercial bankruptcy, commercial litigation, collections, and judgment enforcement matters in Maryland, Washington D.C., and Virginia, primarily on behalf of creditors, financial institutions, commercial lenders, and trade creditors.

This position will assist attorneys in managing matters through all phases of litigation, collections, and bankruptcy proceedings, including creditor representation in bankruptcy cases and related commercial disputes. The role involves working closely with attorneys on case preparation, document drafting, docket monitoring, court filings, and client communications.

The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing a high-volume caseload in a fast-paced legal environment while working both independently and collaboratively within a legal team.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Assist attorneys with creditor representation in commercial bankruptcy matters, including monitoring bankruptcy filings, reviewing dockets, and assisting with preparation of routine bankruptcy pleadings and filings.
  • Monitor and review bankruptcy dockets through PACER and ECF, identify deadlines, and track developments impacting creditor rights, litigation matters, or collection efforts.
  • Assist with preparation and filing of bankruptcy-related pleadings, motions, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist attorneys with commercial litigation and collection matters, including case preparation and management from initial review through judgment enforcement.
  • Prepare and organize case files, exhibits, and supporting documentation for litigation, bankruptcy proceedings, and court hearings.
  • Draft legal documents such as:
    • Complaints
    • Affidavits
    • Motions and memoranda
    • Discovery requests and responses
    • Bankruptcy-related filings and notices
  • Assist with judgment enforcement efforts, including post-judgment discovery, garnishments, liens, and other enforcement remedies.
  • Coordinate service of process and track completion.
  • Maintain calendaring and docket management to ensure compliance with court deadlines, bankruptcy deadlines, and litigation schedules.
  • Assist attorneys with hearing preparation, trial preparation, and case management.
  • Communicate with clients, courts, trustees, opposing counsel, and process servers regarding case status and routine case matters.
Qualifications
  • Prior experience working in a law firm environment, preferably involving bankruptcy, litigation, collections, or creditor’s rights.
  • Familiarity with PACER and bankruptcy ECF systems strongly preferred.
  • Experience with court procedures and litigation processes is beneficial.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and under the direction of attorneys.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to professional standards.
