Job summary

Illinois Attorney General is seeking a paralegal to perform regulatory compliance reviews, analyze contracts and financial statements, and support legal staff with research and document preparation. The role involves substantial communication with registrants' corporate and legal representatives and requires adept handling of complex documents.

Responsibilities include research for special projects, drafting memoranda, preparing routine legal documents, and assisting with discovery requests.

Qualifications

• Requires at least an Associate Degree (Bachelor Degree preferred) in business law or legal studies or completion of an approved paralegal training program.
• Two years of advanced clerical work experience in a legal services operation or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally; evaluate and interpret contracts, financial statements, and other complex documentation.

Responsibilities

• Performs regulatory compliance review of documents and reviews financial statements.
• Maintains extensive oral and written communication with corporate and legal representatives of registrants.
• Performs paralegal work researching, analyzing and monitoring the status of assigned cases; writes legal memoranda and prepares routine legal documents for review by an attorney.
• Reviews transcripts of hearings and case files and excerpts pertinent information; performs legal research for special projects and assignments.
• Assists with deposition preparation, abstracts depositions/trial transcripts, and drafting and responding to discovery requests.
• Works with some independence under supervision of a staff attorney with guidance; reviewed on conferences and results.

Associate Degree in business law or legal studies
