Job summary

Shasta County seeks a County Counsel Paralegal – Confidential (Paralegal I or II) to support the County Counsel office. You will perform legal research and draft and review documents under supervision, assisting with civil and legislative matters.

Two levels available (I or II) with related experience; the position may require court appearances and coordination of calendars. This role offers comprehensive county benefits and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of legal research methods, civil procedure, legal writing, court processes, document drafting, office methods, computer applications, proper English usage and supervision principles.

Responsibilities

  • Provide paralegal services for County Counsel and attorney staff.
  • Research legal issues and review statutes, ordinances, case law and legal articles.
  • Draft pleadings, briefs, appeals, petitions, complaints, answers and declarations.
