Smith Anderson is a well-established, dynamic mid-size law firm known for providing sophisticated legal services to clients across a wide range of industries. We are seeking an entry-level Corporate Paralegal to join our collaborative corporate team and support meaningful, high-quality transactional work in a professional environment that values initiative, precision, teamwork, and continued professional growth.

The Corporate Paralegal will provide high-level support to attorneys in connection with corporate and finance transactions. Working under attorney direction and with minimal supervision, this role requires strong written and verbal communication skills, sound judgment, accuracy, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who is comfortable using technology, takes ownership of work product, and enjoys contributing to a collaborative, professional team.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support attorneys with all aspects of corporate and finance transactions, including diligence, factual research, document preparation, and closing coordination.
  • Maintain transaction and status checklists for a growing Corporate/Finance practice, including matters involving bank clients.
  • Conduct Secretary of State searches, coordinate lien searches with vendors, and gather relevant business entity and transaction information.
  • Prepare and coordinate the filing of UCC financing statements, amendments, and terminations with Secretaries of State.
  • Prepare standard transaction documents using established forms and templates.
  • Assemble, review, and organize closing documents, signature packets, and closing binders for completeness and accuracy.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, attorneys, vendors, and internal team members through oral and written communications.

Qualifications:

  • While not required, 1-3 years of experience in the legal field, primarily as a Corporate Paralegal
  • Proficient in Word, PDF, Excel, and DocuSign
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Proactive and able to take ownership of work product.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • North Carolina State Bar Qualified Paralegal Certificate Program preferred.
