Colorado Department of Corrections seeks a paralegal professional to assist adult offenders with legal research, document preparation, and access to legal resources within facility law libraries. The role includes managing offender computers, notary services, and supervising offender clerks.

The position emphasizes strong research, writing, and organizational skills, with emphasis on compliance with program policies and procedures. This is a state government role located at a Colorado facility.

Qualifications

• Paralegal certificate from ABA-approved program or accredited institution.
• Two (2) years of paralegal experience with legal research and drafting documents may substitute for the certificate.
• A JD may substitute for the certificate; certificate must be obtained within 9 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal research assistance to offenders and staff and analyze legal problems.
• Monitor and manage offender legal access computers and word processing.
• Identify, categorize and log material for photocopying and deliver to offenders for court access.
• Collect, compile and enter data for monthly statistical reports.
• Maintain and log inventories of supplies and equipment.
