Job summary

Midwestern University seeks a full-time Paralegal to work under the direction of the Sr. Paralegal and report to the Vice President and General Counsel.

The Paralegal acts as a key legal partner within the Office of the General Counsel, independently negotiating complex contracts and institutional agreements while contributing to the development of AI-enabled contract management tools. The role requires advanced judgment, strong negotiation capability, and the ability to operate with minimal

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and ABA Paralegal Certification from an accredited institution, with a minimum of two years’ experience in corporate/contract administration and litigation.
• Ability to independently review, negotiate and edit complex agreements with minimal attorney oversight.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and FERPA regulatory frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Independently review, negotiate and edit complex agreements with minimal attorney oversight.
• Serve as primary contact for contract negotiations with external parties.
• Administer contract lifecycle management and ensure documentation is complete and compliant.
• Manage contract workflows and provide regular status updates to stakeholders.
• Support the development and governance of AI-enabled contract management tools.
• Assist with broader transactional matters and routine legal tasks as needed.
