Qualifications

• Paralegal experience, particularly in workers' compensation, is preferred.
• Minimum 2 years in a paralegal role with strong proofreading and drafting skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard office software.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to juggle multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Handle medical records, discovery, and related tasks.
• Draft various legal documents for attorney review.
• Request, follow up on, and organize medical record files.
• E-file documents within appropriate court filing systems (Kansas City).
• Manage and organize case files and research case data.
• Draft discovery and communicate with outside counsel, physicians, court personnel and other experts.
• Bills time contemporaneously and supports attorneys with case-related requests.
• Maintain utmost confidentiality with highly sensitive information.

We are currently looking for a full-time Worker’s Compensation Paralegal to help us meet the needs of our growing legal practice.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Responsible for all billable tasks: medical records, discovery, etc.
• Drafts various legal documents for attorney review
• Requests, follows-up on, and organizes medical record files
• E-File documents within appropriate court filing systems (Kansas City)
• Manages and organizes case files
• Researches and analyzes case data
• Drafts discovery
• Communicates with outside counsel, physicians, court personnel and other experts
• Bills time contemporaneously
• Assists attorneys with case-related requests
• Responds to record and legal documentation requests
• Answers phone calls, takes messages or transfers calls to appropriate parties
• Works with highly confidential information and always maintains utmost confidentiality
• Acts in a stewardship capacity for MVP, works as a genuine, confident, functional member of the team, is hardworking with the ability to be innovative and firm focused in alignment with our core values
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must livein Iowa
• 2- or 4-year degree and a minimum of 2 years of recent experience in a paralegal role; prior experience in the workers compensation practice area is preferred
• Superb communication/customer service skills - both written and verbal
• Proficient with Microsoft Office
• Organized, detail-oriented, and dependable
• Ability to juggle multiple high priority tasks at a time
• Excellent time management skills
• Collaborative and thrives while working in a team atmosphere
