County of Lancaster seeks a full-time paralegal to manage probate filings, prepare legal documents, and support marriage and inheritance tax processes. The role includes scheduling virtual probate proceedings and maintaining electronic case files, with cross-training across office functions.
Qualifications include a high school diploma (Assoc. degree/paralegal cert preferred) and 1 year of relevant experience; proficiency in Outlook, Word, and Excel is expected.

The Register of Wills accepts and maintains filings for probate and appoints representatives of estates. The full-time paralegal is responsible for accepting and processing probate petitions and related filings, maintaining a working knowledge of the PEF Code, preparing citations, Register's decrees, typing letters and subpoenas, scheduling and hosting virtual probate proceedings, analyzing legal issues under the PEF Code, tracking when Estate representatives do not comply with filing requirements, accepting Orphans' Court and Inheritance Tax filings and payments, and processing mail and phone requests. Assist in all aspects of office-wide scanning initiative by scanning all documents into electronic case management system. Responsibilities also include overseeing and training of probate clerks, actively participating in meetings with software provider and conducting testing and providing back up to the marriage clerk. Employee will also be responsible for the collection of money taken in during the business day and reconciling the amount of monies collected with the supervisor at the end of each day.
High School Diploma; Preferred Associates Degree/paralegal studies certification, or commensurate prior experience. 1 year of relevant experience. Significant experience with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel. Experience in legal field desirable. Must be cross trained or have applicable experience in at least three different areas related to the office's core objectives and assist in those areas on a regular basis. Able to maintain confidentiality. Able to multi-task and organize work.
