Job summary

Balfour Beatty Investments is hiring a Paralegal to support the General Counsel and Legal Services Manager in Malvern, PA. The role covers formation, disposals, regulatory filings, tax returns, KYC, document production for closings, and contract drafting using standard forms.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in a related field with Paralegal certification, 2+ years in a corporate legal setting, and strong MS Office proficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Paralegal studies or related field; certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a corporate legal department.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Experience with Litigation Management software and Smartsheet is a plus.
  • PA notary license is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills; detail-oriented and able to prioritize workload.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Expert proofreading, writing and typing skills.

  • Research licenses (Business/Contractor/Broker) and track renewals.
  • Review project-related documents and contracts.
  • Prepare contracts using Company standard forms.
  • Review Bond Requests and facilitate approvals/signatures.
  • Data entry of threatened/pending litigation into Brightflag.

About the role

The Paralegal will have various administrative and paralegal responsibilities and will assist the General Counsel and Manager of Legal Services. The position requires participation in Legal Department meetings and interaction with other corporate departments and Company affiliates as may be necessary.

  • Business Licenses for Multi-Family Properties - research requirements, initiate new licenses and track/process renewals
  • General Contractor Licenses research requirements, initiate new licenses and track/process renewals
  • Broker License track/process renewals
  • Review project-related documents and contracts
  • Prepare contracts using Company standard forms
  • Review Bond Requests for accuracy and facilitate approvals/signatures.
  • Data entry of threatened or pending litigation into Legal Departments litigation software platform (Brightflag).
  • Assist with issuing Litigation Hold Memoranda to relevant staff and drafting initial correspondence related to threatened or pending litigation.
  • Assist with reporting to insurance broker and insurance carriers regarding claims submission and gathering documentation requested by carrier/outside counsel.
  • Coordinate settlements including facilitating signatures, vendor setup and distribution of payment
  • Overall knowledge of invoice payment process to assist as needed.
  • Preparing transmittal letters and FedEx deliveries.
  • Assisting Legal Department with miscellaneous tasks/projects.
  • Maintain Legal Documents in Sharepoint and Microsoft Teams
  • And other duties as assigned
Who we're looking for
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Paralegal studies, or related field plus certification in Paralegal studies preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a corporate legal department.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams is required.
  • Experience using Litigation Management software and Smartsheet is a plus.
  • PA notary license is a plus.

Pay Rate

Pay Rate: $70,000 - $85,000 yr. * *This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee's pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs. No amount of pay is considered to be wages or compensation until such amount is earned, vested, and determinable. The amount and availability of any bonus, incentive, or any other form of compensation that are allocable to a particular employee remains in the Company's sole discretion unless and until paid and may be modified at the Company's sole discretion, consistent with the law and any applicable plan documents.
