Counsel for Creators LLP is a law firm that works with creative individuals and businesses. We guide creative people who want to optimize their business and shape a clear vision of how to reach their goals. Our clients are involved in some of the most cutting-edge and interesting pursuits in the arts, entertainment, and creative industries. We support them with our transactional practice on matters involving copyrights, trademarks, entertainment projects, business setups, and contracts. We also run an innovative legal services product : the first-ever legal membership program for creatives which we created nearly 10 years ago.

We are looking for a full-time legal assistant / paralegal to join our team.

Qualifications :

• 1-3 years experience working at a law firm or in-house legal department. This experience should include some combination of the following : drafting contracts, trademark prosecution and copyright registration, business entity formation, entertainment-related transactions and production counsel, and licensing and other IP-related agreements.
• A completed Paralegal Studies certificate or degree may substitute for extensive experience. We are willing to train promising candidates who meet our other requirements and are a good fit with the culture of our firm.
• Demonstrated experience with art, technology, or entertainment industries in a legal or non-legal capacity is required.
• The ideal candidate should be able to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision and revision.
• We need someone with a proactive attitude who is willing to take ownership of client projects and see them through to completion and who can manage multiple projects at once.
• The ideal candidate should be comfortable interacting with clients by phone and email.
• We are looking for someone to start on a full-time basis. Pay is competitive and commensurate with experience.
• Proficiency or familiarity with the following software and platforms would be a plus : Clio Manage; CRM tools (e.g., Capsule, Salesforce, etc.); trademark search and registration tools (i.e., Markify, Alt Legal, etc.); USPTO, Copyright Office, and California Secretary of State filing systems; Microsoft Office; and Slack.
• You must be based in the United States (preferably California) and you must be able to work our office hours, which are generally 9 : 00AM to 6 : 00PM PT.
