Job summary

Related Midwest, the Chicago office of Related Companies, seeks a skilled paralegal to support corporate governance, real estate transactions, and transactional matters. You will prepare, review and edit documents, coordinate closing processes, and track timelines.

Ideal candidates have 5–7 years of paralegal experience in a law firm or in-house, with strong written and verbal communication, organization, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced setting.

  • Monitor timelines, checklists, and follow up on outstanding items to ensure timely completion.
  • Maintain and organize governance files, templates, and transaction documents.
  • Collaborate with outside counsel and internal teams to drive matters to close.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Support the legal team in all aspects of corporate governance, real estate transactions, and other legal matters and special projects
  • Assist in the preparation, review and editing of legal documents, including transaction documents, NDAs, license agreements and other contracts
  • Support corporate/real estate transactions and coordinate closing processes, including ordering good standing certificates and lien searches, overseeing document execution and compiling and delivering documents
  • Monitor transaction timelines, closing checklists, and follow up on outstanding items to ensure timely completion
  • Prepare organizational documents, including entity formation documents, operating agreements, assignments, authorizing resolutions, officer/incumbency certificates and other governance materials
  • Maintain legal department files, records, templates, databases and transaction documentation
  • Collaborate and interface with outside legal counsel, internal business teams and other stakeholders
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of paralegal experience supporting corporate and transactional matters in a law firm or in-house legal department
  • Experience supporting corporate and transactional matters; real estate experience is strongly preferred
  • Superior interpersonal skills:
    • Ease in working with people up and down the organization hierarchy
    • Naturally adaptive to different audiences
    • Diplomatically assertive
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, prioritize competing deadlines, and work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with Corporate Services Company (CSC) strongly preferred
  • Experience reviewing title commitments, surveys, and zoning reports preferred
  • Strong sense of integrity and ethics
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Undergraduate degree required
Compensation

The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. In addition to a competitive base salary, you will be eligible to receive discretionary bonus incentives and a comprehensive benefits package.

Anticipated base salary range: $100,000 - $130,000+

Actual base salary within the anticipated range will be determined by several components including, but not limited to, the individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and market factors.
