Mount Vernon School District invites applications for a Paraeducator in Special Programs at Mount Vernon High School in Mount Vernon, WA. The position supports students with high needs under supervision of teachers and principals. The assignment runs 180 days per year at 6.5 hours per day.

Starting immediately, this part-time role is included in the classified staff bargaining unit. Salary is paid hourly with eligibility for SEBB benefits and retirement options based on hours worked.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associate’s degree or two years of college or Parapro assessment.
• Experience with significantly impacted students preferred.
• Bilingual and biliterate in Spanish preferred.
• Hold or ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certification.
• Ability to meet state performance standards in reading, math and writing.

Responsibilities

• Support the students’ educational needs within and away from the classroom.
• Assist in implementing social skills, behavioral programs, and positive behavior management.
• Prepare materials for classroom use and maintain records on student progress.
• Deliver lessons under the direction of the cooperating teacher; demonstrate flexibility.
• Work with students and professionals in general education settings.
• Provide supervision for Special Program students in non-academic settings.
