Position Details

Type: Full-Time, 184 days / 6.5 hours per day

Duties

• Assist in the instruction of students with disabilities in mainstream, resource room, or center-based settings.
• Manage behavior by redirecting, calming, or removing disruptive students.
• Monitor and record student progress in areas such as academics, daily living skills, dressing, grooming, and social skills.
• Manage physical needs including toileting, feeding, dressing, lifting, positioning, and transporting students in wheelchairs.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Personal Care Assistant certification required within 30 days of start date.
• 60 semester/90 quarter credits, an associate degree or higher, or passing the ParaEducator or ParaPro exam (documentation required).
• Good communication, interpersonal, and recordkeeping skills.
• Ability to work with technology and computers.
• Ability to supervise students and work cooperatively with staff.
• Physical ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds and perform duties such as toileting, feeding, and self-care procedures.

Rate of Pay

• $19.60/hour to $24.75/hour DOQ with K-12 experience.
• $20.70/hour to $25.85/hour with AA/AAS degree or 60 semester/90 quarter credits from a regionally accredited institution, DOQ with K-12 experience.
• $21.50/hour to $26.65/hour with BA degree from a regionally accredited institution, DOQ with K-12 experience.
• Additional $0.50/hour for serving center-based students 50% or more of the time.
• Additional $1.00/hour at Two Rivers Transition Program or River Trail Learning Center.

Note: Paraeducators hired on or after March 17, 2025, working six or more hours per day, will not be eligible for insurance benefits until the 2025-26 school year.
