Job summary

Montgomery County Public Schools is seeking a paraeducator at a Grade 17-18 level to support students with IEPs in a variety of instructional settings. The role may involve personal care, medical needs, and off-site activities as part of facilitating mastery of curriculum and standards.

Experience in education or behavior management is preferred; a degree and SSPGS competencies training are emphasized. This position is part-time with a 70-hour bi-weekly schedule and daytime shift.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of child development, instructional strategies and practices applicable to assignment
• Ability to assist with implementation of the instructional program and to participate in monitoring and ensuring appropriate student behavior
• Ability to exhibit patient behavior and to work effectively with children, young adults, and staff members
• Knowledge of standard computer hardware and software such as Google Workspace, MS Office and web-based instructional tools
• Knowledge of and the ability to quickly learn and meet the SSPGS seven core competencies

Responsibilities

• Promote student learning and well-being to support students with IEPs
• Assist with students with various needs including personal care and medical needs
• Attend to student activities and may work off-site for learning activities
• Support teachers with instructional activities and classroom management
