Job summary

Snoqualmie Valley School District is seeking a paraeducator to support students in a Special Education self-contained setting under the supervision of a certificated teacher. The role is instructional, with duties including behavior support and assisting with personal hygiene needs for high-needs students.

Must meet WA Paraeducator requirements, be at least 18 with a high school diploma or equivalent, and provide transcripts upon hire.

Job description

Anticipated start date: 9/10/26

Monday - Thursday: 8:50am - 3:50pm (includes one 15-minute paid meal and one 30-minute unpaid meal break)

Friday: 8:50 - 1:50 (includes one 15-minute paid break)

Weekly working hours: 31

Wage: $27.36 - $31.97 per hour (2026-27 PSE Salary Schedule)

Work Calendar: 2026-27 PSE PARA ELEMENTARY M-F

Position Summary

Under the direction of a certificated Teacher, this position is primarily instructional but limited to work within a Special Education self-contained setting (individually or in small groups), and will also assist with behavior and personal hygiene issues of high needs Special Education students. Must Meet WA State Paraeducator Requirements
  • At least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent,

In addition, a paraeducator must also meet one of the following:

  • Have received a passing score on one of the assessments approved by the Paraeducator Board (www.pesb.wa.gov); OR
  • Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university.; OR
  • Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university; OR
  • Have completed an apprenticeship as a paraeducator, in a program registered with the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council.
Upon Hire, Successful Candidate Must Provide
  • A copy of a High School diploma or HS transcripts, or acceptable equivalent document.
  • Official post secondary transcript(s).
Benefit Eligibility
  • Insurance: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, basic life insurance, and accidental death and dismemberment insurance provided the assignment is anticipated to work at least 630 hours per year.*
  • Retirement Plans: This position is eligible for a 403(b) TSA Retirement Savings Plan.
  • Paid Holidays: This position is eligible for up to 13 paid holidays per year. The number of holidays depends on employee's start and end dates.
  • Paid Time Off: Employees working 12 months per year earn 12 days of paid vacation per school year. Employees working 237 - 260 days per school year earn 12 days of sick leave. Up to 3 days of personal leave may be granted each school year. Vacation, sick leave, and personal leave are based on scheduled hours and position start date.
  • Snoqualmie Valley School District benefits are administered by the Washington State Healthcare Authority (HCA) under the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB).

Eligibility for benefits is determined by the number of hours employees are anticipated to work during the school year (September 1 through August 31). Any employee who is scheduled to work 630 hours or more in a year is eligible for benefits.
