Job summary

Montgomery County Public Schools seeks a paraeducator to assist in implementing IEP-driven instruction and supports, promoting student learning and well-being. The role involves classroom management, off-site activities, and clerical duties to assist teachers and staff.

The position requires flexibility, ability to follow instructions, and strong communication skills to work with students, families, and colleagues in a diverse educational setting.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree is required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Coursework related to education such as behavior management or instructional strategies is encouraged.
  • Experience in structured educational settings is preferred; if no related coursework, 2–4 years of relevant experience are required.
  • Any combinations of applicable education, training, and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Promote student learning and well-being under the direction of the principal.
  • Assist with learning activities and manage behaviors to help students access the curriculum.
  • Support students with diverse needs across academic, behavioral, social, and physical domains.
  • Perform clerical tasks to support teachers and other staff, in various classroom environments.
  • May participate with students in off-site learning activities when required.
