Job summary

Fridley Public Schools in Minnesota is seeking a Paraeducator to work with general education students at Hayes Elementary School for the 2026-2027 school year. Schedule: 6.5 hours per day, Monday through Friday, when school is in session, supporting instruction and student needs.

The paraeducator will assist with instruction under teacher supervision, support inclusive practices, monitor behavior, and help meet Highly Qualified requirements as outlined by state guidelines.

Qualifications

• Two years of study at an institution of higher education with 60 credits or an associate degree
• Passing score on the ParaPro Assessment
• Meet Highly Qualified requirements within probationary period

Job Summary

The Paraeducator is a district employee who is primarily engaged in direct interaction with one or more pupils for activities according to district-approved curriculum and teacher-approved plan for the student, physical or behavior management, inclusion or other activities.

• Effective July 1, 2025, in accordance with the Minnesota Department of Education, Fridley Public Schools must meet highly qualified requirements. Therefore, upon hire, all hires must be Highly Qualified - Applicants meet the Highly Qualified requirement if they have:
  • Two years of study at an institution of higher education; Minnesota's standard; A minimum of 60 semester credits or the amount required to complete two years of full-time enrollment as determined by the institution attended OR
  • An Associate's (or higher) degree; Minnesota's standard: An AA, AS, AAS, (or higher) degree
  • Received a passing score on the ParaPro Assessment
• Ability to relate to and communicate with staff and students
• Patience and flexibility in working with special needs students
• Willingness to expand skills
• Ability to take direction of supervising teacher
• Ability to keep information confidential
• Ability to model and reinforce appropriate verbal and interpersonal behavior
• Meet the requirements of being highly qualified by either showing evidence of having earned at least 60 post-secondary credits or passing the Parapro Exam within the employee probationary period.
